Abdominoplasty restores the abdominal wall after the stretch of pregnancy or weight loss. Skin is removed; the rectus muscles are tightened (when separated by diastasis); the navel is repositioned. Most patients describe the result as getting their pre-pregnancy body back, with a single low scar.

The consultation

We assess skin laxity, muscle separation (diastasis recti), and the position of your existing scars (caesarean, appendix). The plan is tailored: a mini for laxity below the navel only; a full for laxity throughout the abdomen; an extended (fleur-de-lis) for very loose skin after major weight loss.

Our approach

We place the incision low — concealed by underwear and most swimwear — and close in multiple layers with absorbable sutures. We routinely include muscle plication where there is diastasis. Drains are used in most cases for two to four days.

The procedure

Three to five hours under general anaesthetic. One to two nights in hospital under nursing observation, then transfer to your private recovery villa with drains in place.

Recovery

Walking bent forward for the first week. Drains out at days two to four. Compression garment for eight weeks. We ask you to remain on the island for fourteen days. No abdominal exercise for eight weeks; final result settles at six months.
