Upper, lower, or both — to refresh the eye area without changing the eye's character.
Blepharoplasty addresses excess skin and herniated fat around the eyes — the things that make a rested face look tired. The most common feedback we hear is 'people keep asking if I've been on holiday.' That's exactly the result we aim for.
The consultation
We assess upper-lid skin redundancy, brow position, lower-lid laxity, fat compartments, and any underlying eye-shape concerns. We are very careful with patients who have prominent eyes (proptosis) or lower-lid laxity — over-aggressive lower-lid surgery can permanently change the eye's shape, which we never want.
Our approach
Upper blepharoplasty: skin and a small strip of muscle removed via a hidden lid-crease incision. Lower blepharoplasty: trans-conjunctival approach (no external scar) for fat repositioning, with skin pinch only when truly needed. We almost never use the older external approach for lower lids — recovery is longer and the risk of lower-lid retraction is real.
The procedure
Forty-five minutes to ninety minutes under local with sedation, or general anaesthetic if combined with other work. Day-stay procedure for most patients.
Recovery
Bruising for seven to ten days; significant swelling for the first three. Sutures out at days five to seven. We ask you to remain on the island for ten days. Final result at three months as scars fade.
