Fractional ablative resurfacing for fine lines, sun damage, and texture — five to seven days of recovery.
Fractional CO₂ laser creates microscopic columns of controlled tissue injury through the skin. Healing stimulates collagen and replaces sun-damaged, finely-lined skin with newer, smoother tissue. It's the most powerful single resurfacing tool we have — and accordingly the one with most recovery.
The consultation
We assess skin type (Fitzpatrick), pigment, and the depth of concern. Patients with darker skin types require careful settings to avoid post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation; we may pre-condition with a topical regimen for two to four weeks.
Our approach
Standard treatment uses 25-30% surface coverage at moderate depth — meaningful results without extreme downtime. For deeper concerns we may stage two passes; for darker skin types we use lower densities and may use Q-switched alternatives.
The procedure
Forty-five minutes, performed under topical anaesthetic and (if needed) nerve blocks. Day-stay procedure in our laser suite.
Recovery
Open wound for three days, crusting through day five to seven. Sun avoidance for four weeks. We recommend remaining on the island for seven days post-procedure. Final result at three to four months as collagen remodels.
